HEY all you chicken back yarders!
Can someone please direct me to a list that I can print out to take with me and share with others?
My friend wants pullets, I want to help, language is a issue, but a printed list is not.
I know you guys all know where to find the list...ha ha. I can't locate one that doesn't have a big explanation next to it. Just the equipment and supplies. thanks~Mary

What sort of list? We need to know what you're looking for to find it.

Whoops!
For 6 pullets: sizes of feeder, waterer, space req. how much feed, nest boxes, bedding, flooring? hay, straw? what temp in the coop?
I am too new to know where to look all that up. THX again~Mary

At the top left in the blue bar there is a listing for index. There is a list of topics there for you to choose from. It covers all you could want to know and then some.
I strongly urge that no one get chickens without at least knowing the basics of care!

I agree, the search tool is your friend.....if you want chickens you need to take the time to educate yourself on what you're going to need. There is no "magic list" that anyone of us can point you to.

the very basics?

probably she'll want a one gallon waterer
a similar size feeder or larger
she needs at least 4 square feet per bird inside the coop and at least 10 square feet per bird in the run

most backyarders let the chickens eat as much as they want, so she'll probably need to gage that as she goes

there are lots of options for bedding. many use pine shavings or pellets

not sure what information you're looking for on the nest boxes

the temperature in the coop might depend some on the breed, but if they are feathered in, they should weather many ranges of temperatures just fine

does that help a little?

i think there aren't any cover-all lists because there are so many variables.
