I just want her to set, is that so much to ask!?! *Update - post #1*

I've got a broody runner!!!! I'm so proud of her, she is sitting like a pro! It's like she's in a trance most of the time, but she comes out of the duck house for a little while every morning and seems totally manic. She runs around with that runner chuckle and I swear she has a big wild smile on her bill! She will stop and talk to me for a minute, run to the food, run to the water, poop, jump in the water basin and then take off with the other hens for ten minutes or so of foraging.
Here are some threads on getting hens to go broody, the first ones are about chickens but it may still apply: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=127865&p=1

(the
corn thing caught my eye because I had been feeding mine a bit of corn for at least week just before she went broody, she actually got one meal that was half corn a day or two before)

Thank for the links!!! I was kind of thinking that if I seperated the drake from her that she might set... I will try that, he will be angry since he doesnt have any other ladies, but he will get over it I am sure. I have ducklings that will be out with him in a few weeks anyway. Thank you again!

I know your frustration. I have one 'scovy who hasn't gone broody yet and everyone tells me they go broody a lot and are great moms. I have no room in my bator presently so I have just left the eggs there for her. Last count was at 27. Will she ever sit? And how many could actually still be viable after sitting so long? WHo knows I will wait and see or toss them when they start to smell.
