I just wanted some blue/ green eggs! PICS

How cute! Yes, I have an EE too, and she looks very similar. I love the blue and gold feathering! Mine was born in July, and she isn't even thinking about eggs yet.

She should be a perfect spring layer if born in July! Yes I love the blue feathers on the one...I'm wondering if she could be considered lavender?? I've always wanted a lavender "something"! Haha

we got one born in march and she is holding out too. I was thinking that we would see one egg by thanksgiving. Mama says she is just being a lady, and she will lay when SHE wants too. All the other birds have been little egg machines.

My EE that hatched in late April just started laying yesterday! She is the last of my flock to begin laying but it was worth the wait, she lays a gorgeous blue/green egg. I was really thinking that I was not going to see an egg from her until spring so it was a pleasant surprise.

I love the pic you posted...so cute!

I hope you reconsider putting a heat lamp in your coop. Chickens are, when provided with well-ventilated draft-free housing, well able to withstand very cold temps. Heat sources, in addition to being a fire danger, also increase moisture levels and actually increase the risk of frostbite.

My husbands's daughter has neighbors with 20 chickens. Last night they worried about the chickens being cold, so they placed a space heater in the coop. The coop burned to the ground and every chicken died in the fire. Please think carefully about heating in areas with animals. There are worse things than cold chickens. RIP chickens.

Thank you...we do not have a heat lamp in the coop. It's 20 degrees here but there are 12 chickens comfortably in the coop and they are doing fine. We would certainly NEVER put a space heater in there, yikes! Our coop is made of quality wood and cedar so we are not worried about them freezing and decided against the heat lamp.

Well wouldn't ya know! Guess who got their first mint GREEN egg today! Oh I was so happy I could just dance (ok I did a little). Not sure which it is but I'm sure the rest aren't far behind. And to think we have had below freezing temps here for the past week (which is why, as you can see, the egg actually froze and cracked)

There's something about posting on this board that seems to make them start laying! So glad you got your green egg, and such a pretty color.

Just for fun, if you have a dog, give it the eggscicle. It's funny watching them try to eat it!

Congratulations! That is a gorgeous little egg.
