I just watched a hen....

eat an entire fig in one bite!

Roughly the size of a golf ball.

On another note, I was feeling sorry for my rooster yesterday because he never even got a bite of a fig at treat time. He'd take one from me and turn around and feed it to a hen. So I saved him one. Brought him in the house last night after the girls had gone to roost and offered it to him. He refused it. He settled for a late night snack of cat food instead.

A whole fig! Good grief! My figs aren't ripe yet - probably in a couple of weeks. Will be interesting to see what my hens do with them!
