My wife and I have dropped eggs while unwrapping them from the shipper, dropped the eggs on top of other eggs while loading the bator... A couple of weeks ago, I was at my mom's when the electric co. shut down the power on my street to replace a neighbors transformer... I was on day 21 of the 23 day incubation period for a bator full of pheasants and another full of chukars... lost all of the chukars and only 2 pheasants hatched!
I CAN FEEL YOUR PAIN!!! But if you love it as much as I do, it will happen more and more.

I wouldnt beat yourself up.. i purposely cracked an egg open.. thought it was rotten.. had a fully formed chick! i felt horrible..

So sorry that happened to you; I've dropped shipped eggs as I was unwrapping them, too - makes you want to scream (actually, I DID scream).

I'm sorry, I know you must feel awful.

My first time candling I pulled out the ones that looked like they didn't develop or had blood rings... out of 24 'duds', I was right about 23, and the 24th had a tiny chick inside, I was sick for days thinking about it.

I'm only going to candle when absolutely necessary to try to avoid that in the future... and when in doubt, leave it in.
