I know first eggs are small and often not fertile...but they are my first eggs ever!!!
I collected for 3 days....could not stand it any longer...and plopped them into an incubator.

Anyone else guilty????

Only 3 days? Man, you're impatient!!

Almost every egg i've ever incubated and do incubate is from new hens

I put their first eggs in all the time and get chicks

Sometimes i don't sure, but more often than not pullet eggs i do get chicks as long as they arent excruatingly tiny (smaller than button eggs).

my four female coturnix gave me my first two eggs thursday, two more friday, two more saturday, four sunday and so far, three today. one more to go today. all of them are in my incubator and only one was smaller than normal. i will see in a few weeks how many are fertile!

I have had males pass away and in hopes of hatching out the last of their legacy tried to hatch even the small eggs (buton quail ). Never seems to work but I always feel like if they do hatch them might have problems being small. Now that I see how much the coturnix can vary in egg size I wonder if they would have a harder time if they get out of the egg.
