I thought that it was called a Grey Stag but as I was reading around the forum I realized that I could be wrong. Is this a Cubalaya?? Give me your honest answers and opinions on the breed and quality. This is a pic from my cellphone. As soon as I get home then I will post more pics. Picture was taken yesterday 10-20-09.

Also, I live in Michigan. How good is this breed in the winter. It can get below zero here. Should I buy a heater.

Not a cubalaya, not even close my friend. Their tails never go above horizontal, they have white legs, and pea combs.

This is an immature stag, so his tail isn't at it's fullest:

Your bird appears to be at least some part phoenix and american game.

How is his temperment with other fowl and people?

Also I dont know if he's moulting because in the summer he had a lot more feathers around his neck. Is it normal for him to shed and change colors as the winter gets closer?? When I get home around 7:00 I will put up pictures of him during the warm days. Thanks

He is not even one drop aggressive with people. And I wouldnt know how he is with other males because he is the only full gorwn rooster that I have. He ocasionally pecks at his cockrels when they get too close to where he's eating but nothing out of the ordinary I would assume

It's common. My little Silver duckwing hen didn't molt at all this summer and then just last week pretty much exploded, barely able to look at her now (kidding

Yup, he's molting for sure. And they do tend to look pretty sorry, especially when they drop their tails all at once!

Even if his tail was weighted down with all of his feathers, it'd be too high. Cubalaya tails are always down, even as chicks. They never stray above horizontal.

Had a busy day so it took me a while. Sorry. But here go more pics.

Hope its not too many pictures

This is another pic of him yesterday.

These pics were taken around July when he had more color and feathers. I think it would be easier for you guys to tell his breed this way.

Here he goes on the window sill

And just to prove that he is not agressive with people. Here is our rooster calmly being held by our Pastor's son

I had one that looked EXACTLY like him. They're such awesome birdies. ^__^
