doesn't look to be a known breed, but he's pretty.. kind of looks like rock influence, which would be why he has barring.. and a buff color? So a cross.

ETA: Barred plymouth rock, is what i meant by "rock"

yea i think cross too....if i remember correctly....it was a buff orpington roo witha white leghorn hen? mean anything to anyone?
 
thats the thing though....i dont know how the barred part of him is present if their was never any barred breeding? but i also dont know everything about breeding

hmmm....i guess your right, so if i were to breed it to a leghorn lets say.....would any of those characteristics be fair game? barred? buff? leghorn?
 
these tow babies are related - same barred rock roo on these hens.....one is barred the other pure white but for 2 balck spots on each wing.....

I think it has to do with having two barred genes. If they each have on - though it doesn't show, the off spring can then be barred.
