I know it's been asked and answered but???

Well, that's a start.

I helped the BCM out. It seems to be ok. The olive egger isn't making any progress. No other pips.

I had to help 2 Favs after 18 hours. They were getting shrink wrapped but are fine. 2 blue araucanas in the same incubator pipped and in a hour or two had zipped that shell like a sleeping bag and popped right out. Same humidity - I just don't get it.

4 out, all assisted. One working on it after I pipped for him and the other probably dead. No movement or chirping. Not a good hatch at all.

Thanks for asking.

The same thing happened to me on my last two hatches of Marans. I only ended up with one out 18 and had to help him out. I think its a humidity thing. I dont know but the only good hatch I've had was my first and they were my eggs.

I am sorry about your hatch but it makes me feel better. So, thank you. I have had people say they hatched all their shipped Marans and others say they lost them all, so who knows. I do not believe it was an incubation problem as my Brinsea has been rock solid. I will have more than I want with these 3 and the two 3-week-old BCMs coming this week so all is not lost. I really waned one of the GCM's to hatch but that doesn't look like it is going to happen.

Thanks,

Mary

One of the BCM's died. In the brooder are 3 more BCM's and 1 Olive Egger. One of the BCM's is very weak and unable to stand. I am doing all the usual measures to get him doing better. I just moved him back into the spare Brinsea and put him on a soft blanket to rest. He is chirping to get out and back in the brooder with the others. Poor sweetie. I opened the incubator and sniffed and non of the remaining eggs is stinky. I cannot hear any tapping or chirping in the two remaining olive eggers and I suspect they are either dead or were never viable. They were almost impossible to candle even with the Surefire flashlight. I do hear tapping in two of the three Golden Copper Marans so I have a ray of hope for them starting into Day 24 tonight. Unless I detect an odor I will leave them until Tuesday night, the end of Day 25 and then toss them. Stressful, stressful hatch.

Mary
