He is my first rescue rooster and I am smitten! He stays close to me & follows me around when I visit the coop. My chickens are free range and hes integrated in jst fine with everyone with very little muss or fuss from the big hens.
Hes a little bantam something but what? The little I got...hes old and a former show bird, thats why his comb is cut off?!
Im more than happy to have him live his life out here. He does this!!!

He'll even start "purring" after a minute. I dont know if its a trance or a nap....whatever its adorable!

I jst want to know what breed he is!

Some sort of Japanese bantam? lol, I don't know. He sure is a sweet one though. I had one like that, a Yokohama mix I believe, he was special.

Best wishes with him.

Rico is a black breasted old English game bantam and dubbed for show. Pretty boy!

Oh, lol, if that's so then I must be learning something more about breeds than I used to know, because that's initially what I thought, but the ones I've seen had more gold on them and longer legs. This is the second time now in trying to guess breed that my first guesses were more likely to be the right ones but I second guessed myself... lol

Best wishes.

There are two distinct body types of OEGB, American and UK. UK ones have much longer legs and taller/upright body than the American type, which looks much more like your boy there.

Thanks everyone.
After your input I googled and Im pretty sure he's a BB Red OEG.
Boy did we get lucky with our first rescue rooster!

Thanks for the info, I was thinking there might be a few types, seems that's often the case.

Best wishes to all.
