I know nothing, please help me!

There is already great information for you from the other posters. My recommendation is to look around at all the different breeds and look for the one(s) that you like best. Look at what people post about them, look at the pictures that are posted around the site, and so on. I have Henderson's Chicken Chart bookmarked on my computer. Definitely not the end all be all chart, but I often refer back to it because it has links to poultry sites on all the chicken breeds.
Just know that you may come home with three little chickies this year, but you may never been done wanting to bring more home. They are cute and addicting! Welcome to the fun of chickens.

Here is a great reference book, Gail Damerow's 'Storey's Guide to Chickens' is an excellent guide, as well as this web site.
