I know these are absolutely in no way Silkies

Hello everyone. I bought these two cuties at Tractor Supply about 3 weeks ago. They were supposed to be Silkies. I see not a shred of Silkie. First they have normal toes, no extra. Second, they have feathers not silk,(ok I know that doesn't totally preclude them from being Silkies, or does it?). Anywho the temperament isn't very Silkie-ish either. So it is I come to the populous of Backyard Chickens for your help in determining what in God's Green Earth have I got and if they are Standard size breed as I suspect, will t

Nope they definitely don’t have any lacing, just bars and they don’t have the shape of a Cochin. To me they look like cuckoo marans.

If so, you'll be getting dark brown eggs. Cool, eh?

Wow! You guys are good! And awesome! Sure enough I googled the French Cuckoo Maran and sure enough there were my babies. Not sure why Tractor Supply had them listed as Silkies then. Oh well I have plenty of Silkies and these two pullets named Espresso and Mochachino are definitely a pleasant surprise. Thanks again to everybody and take care!

I agree, Cuckoo marans standard hens. TSC chicks sometimes get moved around to make room for more chicks and the signs for their breed usually don't get transferred with them.
