I just had a bobcat come out in broad daylight and grab a chicken not 10' from me. I was out there keeping an eye on them while they ranged because there have been a lot of hawks lately. I didn't hear or see a thing until it pounced and it wasn't especially afraid of me. :hit So sad right now, I really liked that chicken.

Wow...im so sorry you lost her, and in such a fighting way!:hugs
That's kind of unusual in broad daylight and with you standing so close. You may want to consider informing your local game warden. This is a bold cat and could be a serious danger to people or other small pets or livestock. They may want to trap it and resettle it in a safe area where it would be less likely to cause anymore harm. :fl

Very good point.

One more thing I'd like to mention.. due to the crazy weather we've been having here in TN it may be having a difficult time finding food. And, if it has babies it may become even bolder and it has already found an easy meal at your place. It will likely return. Please be cautious when out and about. If it is a bobcat it's unlikely to go after an adult size person but my be tempted by very small children. And will definitely try again for a chicken. I don't want to scare anyone by any means but you need to be aware if you aren't already. I hope it stays away or you can get a warden to help.

This cat is probably the same one I saw around 4AM once marking a tree in the yard. It has a territory here. We live next to a couple hundred acres of wilderness and the animals don't pay any attention to where that border is. But geez, there are rabbits and groundhogs and squirrels and turkeys... Surely this cat isn't starving.

It may not be starving, but it will go for the easy pray when available. We have them here too. We're on a mountain back in the woods. However we haven't had them come so close in day time and with a person so close by. It's more the boldness of it that would worry me. Just be careful.:fl
