I know what color blue is, and this isn't it!

I see a lot of EEs colored like Robin. I would love to know what they are mixing together to get that color.
At any rate, common wisdom states that a peacomb means the blue egg gene. But in Robin's case it isn't true. I'm guessing she's not the only freaky peacombed EE out there. I think EEs just do what they are going to do. That's the joy of the EE. THey may lay green eggs, but they might lay brown or white or pink or tinted in some way.

OP- your eggs do look tinted on the green side. Maybe they are just really, really light.

We have five EE's. Of our originals, Dora lays a blue-green egg and Muffy lays a slightly olive-green egg. Of the new girls, Ruby lays a light brown egg, Blackbeard lays a very green egg, and Free Bird lays a brown egg with speckles. I got the three new girls hoping to have a true blue egg or a pink one. The truth is, you never know what you will get with an EE.

OMG! Captainmom I think you nailed it! After doing more research I think she is a D'Uccle cross.

Wow OK, well that explains the egg color and she's still a nice bird. I also have the ten chicks I bought from this line and who knows what they actually are. So much for the foundation of my blue egg laying flock!

None of my "EE" chicks have visible beards/muffs like other EE chicks I've seen. I think I'm in for an adventure. I purposefully didn't buy from a hatchery because I wanted to be sure I knew what I was getting.

Cassi (pea comb/slate legs/light brown egg)
Pene (pea comb/green legs/rosy-pinkish brown egg)
Jules (pea comb/green legs/cream egg)

BUT they're sweet, lay very regularly, and the eggs are at least a large...I'm not complaining!

I guess you could always cross her/otheres with a really nice EE rooster and see what the offspring will lay. She sure is a nice bird, pretty color. Good luck with the girls and enjoy the eggs, regaurdless of the color of the shell!!!! At least you know you have no samonella(sp?) worries here!!!

Yes. I thought for sure that she would lay at least the blue/green. I guess that's the luck of the draw.

It is kinda nice though. I know which one is hers.
