I know what I think of this.... what do you think?

In the places I have worked Dunkin Donuts and McD's the first words out of the manager and district manager is , "In case of burglery or confrentation" walk away and call police DO NOT engage.

And that is what is so sadly lacking in America today. Why do we consider safety more valuble then honor and just simply doing what is right? Our great-grandparents would have considered a man who would stand and do nothing, as bad as the criminal himself, and rightly so.

"The only thing neccesary for the triumph of evil is for good men to DO NOTHING!!"

Why should corporate America or small mom and pop store pay for your actions of honor?

The guy did the right thing however the burden of his actions should not in any way rest in the financial lap of the corporation he worked for - McD's or Granny's Country Store.

If the same thing happened at Granny's country store do you think he would be entitled to $300K when she told him before to call the police and not get in a fight with people in her store?

This has NOTHING to do with honor. It has everything to do with a 'hero' now crying fowl and want ing his bills paid. If it was a real heroic act he wouldn't be flapping about the $$$ now.

No one said HE was crying foul. Others did it for him.

If it had happened in Granny's country store granny - if she had any sense - would have put out a collection box, held a fundraiser and lauded the guy far and wide. And the customers he saved would have all gathered together to pitch in and help.

Is there a difference - simply YES.

From whom much is given much is expected. The more you make off of a community the more willing you should be to give back.

I have WHAT in my yard? :

The idea of entitlement leaves a dirty taste in my mouth.

Those who have nothing want everything from those who have something.

I am done with this and won't be replying again. We all have a difference of opinion and how we see things. Ours is on the opposite ends of the spectrum. We'll have to agree to disagree.

Sometimes doing the right thing cost us,most of the time doing the wrong thing get you more money. That seams to be the way it is now days.
We live in a sad sad world and its not getting better soon it will be every man for them self kinda like Mad Max.....I mean when they put a 11 year old in an adult prison you know things are getting even worse...

I dont think one way or another on whether McDs should 'have to' pay for his therapy. I do think that they should be commending his actions, and maybe should WANT to help, whether they HAVE TO or not.

But really, my point was about the state of our country when everyone would rather back down then get hurt. And I agree wholeheartedly about him whining now... makes you wonder about the 'hero'. huh?

He should pay for his own medical bills or use his own insurance, what he did to protect the lady was of his own accord and not related to work. I don't like the term "hero" for this man either. A hero would not be trying workmans comp or making the denial public news.

This statement is so true. Locally, an off duty sheriff's deputy (during a backyard BBQ) saw a neighbor lady getting beaten by her man. The guy ran over there, stopped the beating. The man doing the beating, then started a fight with the off duty deputy. The family of they deputy called the police. The man filed assault charges against the deputy and the woman backed up her man. The deputy lost his job.

Has this guy asked to be called a Hero?

I don't have the full story I am sorry, but if this guy has stood up to a bullying abuser and saved a woman I would think that any injuries he has sustained should be paid for by the guy who shot him. and if he is now debilitated, then it would be soooo nice if Mc Donalds said that he had saved one of their customers, and given him something as a gift/thank you. At the same time making it clear that their rules state that their staff should not do this.

But here it seems this guy has done a good deed what we are all saying has gone wrong with the world today is that nobody will stand up for the weak guy/woman. We all walk by with our noses in the air, we say... any wonder why?

He may be a hero to the lady he saved, but isn't this just the very poor language of a sensationalist press. Who else could have been shot?

Now if he is disabled? he has no income? and is faced with paying a huge amount for his medical bills while the "Criminal" who shot him sits back and gets taken care of.... God help everyone the day he gets released.

is it any wonder there are no good samaritans these days? This woman could have been killed, as could anyone else. Or even everyone in the store.

Insurance is there for a purpose, and this situation would qualify for me and my business. If this guy saved one ofmy customers I would be there with him trying to sort out his bills and wopuld never stop saying thank you. I equally would not call him a Hero, maybe a star. thoroughly good chap and all that. ( lol.... quaint old brit here)

I just think the criminal should pay for his actions.

ENTITLEMENT! GIVE ME A BREAK! I sure am tired of losers squeezing the live out of my tax dollar but if my tax dollar went to this guy instead of supporting the LOSER in jail I would be a happy camper! Like the OP said they could have at least start a contribution jar or SOMETHING! Sure hope nothing like that ever occurs to you or yours, cause I really hope that they get your kind of Justice!

On 9/11 some citizens interfered in the operation of an air craft and deliberately drove that plane into the ground killing themselves - and everyone else on board - going directly against what airline personnel are told to do and what many of them were told to do by authorities at the time.

They did it because they thought that the aircraft was going to be used to hurt other unknown people.

We lauded them as heroes, got T-shirts with their catch phrases on them and feted their families all over the country. We erected shrines to their bravery and sacrifice.

This guy put himself in harms way to help another human being. He got hurt. Badly.

The corporation is and always will be within its rights to refuse to have anything to do with him. He has asked for nothing. I am stunned at how many of you would give him just that.
