It would be hard to know which girls laid those first eggs. They could be from your large fowl girls. First eggs are small and will increase in size over time. So, I know typically it will be hard to tell who's laying what, but based on the fact that we have a Barred, Brahma, Orpinton, Wyandotte, Cochin, Bantam Barred - who all are listed as laying brown eggs and a silkie and Polish who lay white and cream, can I assume these came from my 2 little bantam girls? or does color mature with laying as well?
Nice!I weigh all my girls eggs until they start becoming regular in weight.
I write it on a calendar
After they become pretty regular I just put a mark on the calendar so I know how many eggs I got that day.
I got a first egg from my NN pullet Emily today!
It was 1.3 ounces and cream in color. That’s Emily in the background.
