I knew they had air sacs, but I did not know they had had cervicocephalic air sac and that the male duck has a syringeal bulla.

The avian air-sac system in a duck:
(i) nasal passages; (ii) infra-orbital sinus; (iii) cervicocephalic air sac (single); (iv) clavicular air sacs; (v) cranial thoracic air sacs; (vi) caudal thoracic air sacs; and (vii) abdominal air sacs. (H) heart; (L) liver; (LU) lungs; (B) syringeal bulla (male ducks).

Very interesting. Thanks for posting. I’m still trying to understand duck anatomy. My new Pekin’s chest sinks a little when she’s floating in water. Maybe she has small clavicular air sacs.

Ive seen the syringeal bulla when my mulards fell apart by accident one day
