hi,i ,have posted before, about letting my 3, 6 month old peacocks out to free range.
well,yesterday,i finally got the nerve!!
well!!,all 3 have not moved from the enclosed area!!
removed all the netting, and after a few run arounds, all 3 still remain in the same area, that had the netting!!
was worried about, where they would roost, thought for sure, they would fly off,up into the trees, but no!!
they roosted on my window ledge,as always.
they are now[day 2],straying a little more, but still remain in eyeshot of their cage area.
they have been in this area since day old.
do you think that they will wander a little more each day?,and finally roam my street?
my yard is only 20x20,so sure that they will not stay in this small space.
but as my yard is surrounded by 20 feet banana plants, and is hard to see in/out, was worried ,that if they get out, will they be able to remember how to get back in.
i can always feed them outside of the fence.
it is soooo strange to see these birds, which now have the freedom to just fly/roam,to see them just sitting on my doormat, preening, sleeping, with no lust to go anywhere!!

Mine are the same age as yours i still hang around the 60 by 100 foot barn where there pen sets next to and they have been out for 2 months, for the most part when i let them out they stay in the dark barn or sunbathing in it's alley way.
They do not venture very far mabe 50 feet once in a while then i will see them panic and run back to the barn

I would not rush them to go out if they don't want to, remember they are still babies at 6 months they learn about the world one day at a time.

Don't you worried about neighborhood dogs if they stray far from your home?
Like if the peas fly into their yard they get attacted ?

I live on 100 acres and still worry some dog will get dumped and happen by my place even though i have 6 grown dogs here to watch out for things around here.

here they are 50 foot from the barn checking things out

Then they panic and run back to the barn honking their heads off

hi,i dont worry,as no one on my street,or surrounding streets, has dogs that are loose.
i have a dog,and he has interacted,since day one,with these guys.
i even have a cat,which is sweet,but!!
get nasty with my dog sometimes!
peacocks scare the HECK OUT OF HER!!!LOL
all i want is for these guys to settle/roam my neighbourhood.
dont really want them to stick around my yard,as i have so many rare plants, which you know, thet will eat!!lol

As long as your neighbors are fine with the peafowl roaming around and they don't get mad if the peafowl peck at their plants or poop on their sidewalk then you should be fine. In some parts in Florida there are big feril populations of peafowl in neighborhoods and people ither hate them or love them. Some people complain about their noise and their poop, while others love the noise and feed them regularly in their backyards. Here is a good video about that:

I hope your peafowl do well and the neighbors like them.
