Last summer, I saw this shrub in Italy. Some seeds may have fallen into my bag unbeknownst to me (although you can also buy them here in the US).

Those seeds may have recently fallen into a pot. This is the result this morning:

The shrub (yellow bird of paradise) is supposed to be hardy to zone 8. I am in zone 7, but I also have several camellias that are out of their zone (wayyyy out this winter), and they're fine.
