Papaw-John
Songster
I received 100 plus 5 extra chicks from Meyers Hatchery last week. All chicks were fine and in good health. I moved them into the coop after a couple of days. The coop is divided in half. My two young emus are in one side. On the other side I make it a huge brooder. Well, I guess I was not too thorough at sealing one side from the other, because a few chicks made it to the emu side. I was checking them often (Thank God!) I went in and saw one of the emus chasing a chick around. Then the emu picked up the chick and dropped it in the water. I rescued the chick and put it back with the other. I looked in the water and there were 7 drowned chicks.

I wonder what the emu was thinking?
