I just lost a hen a couple of days ago too. It's never easy to lose a pet.

So sorry for your loss. It'll get easier, but it's always hard when you lose a pet chicken. I lost one of our hens last year to heatstroke. She jumped in the coop and knocked the door down in 90 degree weather, and even though she had water, she didn't make it. We found her in the nesting box, on top of an egg. She went in, laid an egg, and didn't come out. It was really rough for a couple of weeks, and it took me a few weeks to forgive myself. It'll get better, give the other chicks a little hug for me. Here's a hug for you too.

Thank you TwoCrows, enola, Mr MKK farms, sunny and the 5 egg layers , & Malibu99 I am so sorry for the loss of Sunny and the 5 egg layers loss and Malibu99's loss , and thanks for the advice of TwoCrows and enola. I am headed first thing in the morning to the co-op after grit . TwoCrows I never would have thought about them pecking to protect the flock , nature is so in incredible . I did think something maybe wrong with them at first because I just couldn't imagine lol but I know now , that explains everything . I am so attached to them now I guess I will always be a chicken Mama Thanks Everyone
