My MIL hatchery Delaware was the smartest sweetest chicken ever. She was a 'person' (distinguish from 'human') and very much loved!

I have a small flock of 7 and my Delaware has the most personality. She is the first to do everything and she is a little busy body ~ always there to see what's going on. She is by far the loudest of the group but because I love her I don't mind but not sure my neighbor feels the same way

Been doing a lot of reading on here for the last several months, and I'm quite certain my flock will be mostly Delawares. Just about ready to build a coop. And then time for my first chickens. YAY !

Dust bath at the horse shoe pit.

I decide to sit and watch a bit.

Miss Della spies me, and leaves the dirt bath ...

Here she comes ....

How about a back scratch ....

She jumps into my lap ....

And gives me a hug ....

And then talks to me ....

Mind you, she is filthy dirty from the dust bath! ....

She persists, though it is over 100* with not even a breeze, she wants to hug .... (Notice Miss Stella pacing nearby)

I tell her she needs to get down and go get a drink of water ....

She's a mess! Hot, humid, sticky, dirty ..... She will just stay ....

Then, the jealous Miss Stella makes her presence known (next to my legs begging) ....

Switcheroo, and I take the camera, as she cons Brittney into holding her ....

Another spoiled Delaware ....
