I love being a teacher...

Oh if only the rest of us have a couple months off every year to recover from jobs that we hate. And still get paid.

See, no offense Buff, but that is what gets people crazy. teachers hours are horrible and often they aren't off they are working toward degrees that they are paying for themselves. Or trying desperately to get or keep jobs for the fall. Their salary is not "PAID for doing nothing" it is pro-rated out over the 12 months to make the unemployed time easier financially.

You want it - become a teacher!

Three more days!!! yea!!!! I can now get my house in order and work in the yard and ride my horses and do everything that I never have any time to do during the year.

People don't realize all the extra hours that teachers work. AND weekends. I have drama after school and we compete on weekends. And dont' even talk to me about rehearsals. My kids never see me when we are putting on a show.

But I love the kids! Even the ones who roll their eyes at me and tell me they hate my class.

I have worked all kinds of jobs in my life and I have never found anything as exhausting (albeit rewarding) as teaching. And you don't always feel rewarded. Sometimes you are just tired.

I'm a teacher -- but I don't get paid a dime, actually I have to pay to be a teacher (as in buying all curriculum stuff), my students are with me 24/7, and I don't get a vacation at all. And I love it (most of the time.

My wife is a social worker for the schools. I always tell her if she added up all the extra hours during the year that her summer time off would not cover them.

I have WHAT in my yard? :

I believe she was joking. Ms. Hooligans rolls like that.

My very good friend is a teacher. She will be retiring in 2 more days. Never have I seen anyone like her, and likely, I never will again. she has been at it now for 41 years! I commend all you teachers, it takes a lot of guts to do this job now, its not like it was years ago. I guess, if you do it for the love of it, and the kids, you should have minimal problems. thank you all, all the teachers out there. Have a fabulous summer! Oh, and get some rest.

Lol that's the kind of teacher I'll be in about 3 years.

Just got out of the meeting, we still have jobs, but we'll be teaching new subjects next year. He's teaching science and math now, I'm going to cover summer school, and they don't know what grade I'm teaching come fall. Now I can relax a lil this summer.

I'm glad you guys still have jobs next fall.

I got my "guaranteed employment" stamp on my paycheck last Friday. That's always a sigh of relief.

I just found out I'm going to teach one class of a different grade next fall, which means that I have a couple of books to study up on this summer.
