Sorry for shouting at you, but I had to tell someone and I knew you'd understand.
Thanks to everyone for the helpful advice - you really made it any easy decision to take the plunge. I ended up adopting an adult male from a local shelter. He was rescued a while back from an abusive situation and has been rehabilitating in foster care. He will need some extra TLC, but I am completely up for it and am looking forward to seeing him come out of his shell.
