How are yours doing in the cold?At first it was ok but when the water started to freeze in the heated bowl along with lots of snow.I decided to make a temp coop in my basement..now they are nice and toasty and very little for me to worry about.. I guess I could do that because my flock is so small for now.. lolWell, it is quite tough for the non-feather-legged or single combed breeds, but I find little ways to cheer them up. For example, in the winter you can give them corn for warmth (avoiding it in the summertime) so I make them cornbread now... And I have an oil burner so for two hours when I am out there working, I run it and the shut it off at night. It gives them a bit of a boost for laying eggs and moving more. And lastly I will open the "curtains" it the coop to let in some sun if there is any. There are many ways to take the load off the flock I the winter. How are yours doing in the cold?
