So.. I'm new at this whole chicken business. I started with two barred rocks (currently 4-5 weeks old) and then got two TSC Tetra tints (3 weeks old) (all sold to me as female) I really really really REALLY wanted a RIR but all I could find was straight run and so I crossed my fingers and picked one (been kicking myself since for not getting two... ) But out of all 5 of them, little red (whom I've named nugget) is by far the sweetest, most cuddly, snuggly chick EVER! S/he comes to me every time I go to visit and jumps in my hands and falls asleep in my lap and OMG IM IN LOVE WITH A CHICKEN.. I mean, I love all 5 of them but the others won't have anything to do with me. I dont know if its the ages (Nugget is about 2 weeks old) , or the breed or the fact the others are paired off and little nugget doesnt have a 'buddy'.

But from what I've read, roo's aren't super friendly right? So does this mean that theres a chance.. ever so slight, that Nugget may indeed be a female? Please oh please!!

Even though you've probably already been welcomed, you haven't by me.

It's so exciting having babies, especially when they actually let you mess with them.
I'm in love with mine too, so don't feel silly. Lots of people are.

As for roos not being friendly, I think it all depends on the chicken. I have a couple babies that are roos (I've found out) that are more friendly than some of my pullets.
I really hope that yours turns out to be a girl though.

Even if it is a boy, its not like you can't keep it. Unless you live where you can't have roosters.

My RIR's are one of the most timid in my bunch! I'd love for them to be friendlier. Since you have a good thing going with this one, I'd definitely keep it up!
