I made the hard choice today...

I just finished euthanizing two day old chicks. I know it was the right choice, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted to do this morning.

I guess it isn't all fun and games, huh. Bummer.

Thanks guys, I knew you'd understand.

Both of these were cute little polish babies that pipped Sat. but hatched yesterday. One couldn't walk or stand and then had progressively worse labored breathing. The other had some neck deformities and couldn't move from off his back.

But, we do have 11 other babies who are doing very well in the brooder now. So, that's where I'll take the joy...
