Hope it's not too late to recommend, but I just did! I hope your town/city knows that even in San Francisco you can have chickens! I have 5 and we have a daycare/preschool. They are great class pets and teaching tool for kids. My city allows 6 and licensing also allows them in our school. Good luck and let us know the outcome.
