I may be putting Buddy down...

That is kind of like my situation... nearly 3 years later and from time to time I still have pangs of guilt about it, even though I know it was the right thing to do. Not easy to do, but necessary.

Thank you,
Its a very hard decision to make but you have to think about your other animals and the what if's.
Alot of people in my situation would have just penned the dog up or used a chain. Which would only
make the animal worst.

Which is so not the way to handle this situation. A lot of people tie up their dogs so they don't have to deal with the reality of the situation - possible atttacks - wanting to kill other animals, etc. I could totally chain up Buddy for most of the day - but most of the confrontations occur when he's not tied up (duh).
I'm working towards getting the gumption to make "the app't". This just so totally sucks. He CAN be such a good boy....As long as he doesn't feel threatened (which is all the time he's not laying next to me (on the floor) next to the couch, or fetching the softball)...

Is it purely dog aggression, and with your dog in particular? Would finding him an experienced one dog home be an option?

I really would advise putting the dog down, as hard as it is. You would never be able to live with yourself if the dog really hurt someone else.

Honestly, with the amount of dogs needing homes, that AREN'T aggressive, I would say goodbye to this one and give a much needed home to a friendly dog. It sucks because its not even the dogs fault he is like this, upbringing by stupid humans is what turns a dog bad in most cases.

Either way you choose, I wish you peace with your decision.

I just wanted to add my support. Those of us that sort of collect animals run into this from time to time. It is a gut wrenching decision, but it should NEVER be an easy decision, no matter the circumstance. All you can do is the best you can do. Say a prayer for the pup, and let him go on to his reward. My heart goes out to you, but part of what makes us GOOD pet owners is being responsible pet owners. You did your best. And I still believe all dogs go to Heaven, so a great beach awaits the pup.
