I may be taking in a new duck - Quarantine?

She really looks good. Hopefully, she won't have to stay separated for long. How's her poop looking?
Such a pretty girls ❤️
Yeah, I expect she’ll get to be near the others very soon :)

Poop looks fine! More solid than I would expect, but again, dehydrated.. Seems like she was getting good food. I gave her a bowl, and she took to it right away. Hungry baby.

She’s been having a great time in the pool, already seen a lot of splashing & zoomies from her. And she’s stink-free!

How is your new girl doing? Did you name her yet?
She was originally from a Spanish household, so I’ve named her Azúcar Blanca, meaning “White Sugar.” :) I’ve mostly just been calling her Blanca, though.

She is sweet like sugar. She’s been following me around, chattering softly whenever she sees me, and crying when I leave. Chewed on my hands, hair, nose..

She got to see the other ducks through my porch railing yesterday, and she was way more interested than I expected! I believe it was her first time seeing adult ducks. I don’t think my other ducks noticed her.

I set her up with a mirror over night. Occasionally, I’d hear her quack loud, but for the most part, she was calm. Very happy to be let out this morning.

She looks great and is acting great, so I somewhat broke quarantine today.. She is sweet, but my, is she defensive! She was trying to pick a fight with everyone through the fence. They noticed her now! Lots of commotion. She’s away from everyone now, but I will let her see them again through a fence later today.

She sounds so much like my little Cayuga I brought home in January she had a chip on her shoulder even though she doesn't have any shoulders. If anyone came around she was ready to kick butt. She came with a Runner best friend who was accepted right away but this little girl took time since she let everyone know she wasn't going to be messed with. No one did mess with her it was all in her mind. Finally after a month she settled in and the girls let her hang out with them it took until just recently for both my drakes to accept her, I felt so sorry for her that they would put their heads down and chase her off. My oldest Runner drake accepted her first now my young Runner drake has accepted her. Hopefully Blanca will not take long to accept and be accepted.
Keep us updated.

Yep, that sounds like her! Poor girl. I’m glad she was accepted eventually ❤️

My ducks are rather kind, more willing to accept than other ducks I’ve had. They were simply chattering to her through the fence. Some were telling her off with sideways head bobs, but no fighting like she was trying to.

I hope it won’t take long, but I’m ready for if it does. Blanca needs to calm herself and learn how to be a duck!

I’ll let y’all know how it goes.

How is Blanca today?
I just found out earlier today that her original name was “Goose!” Maybe that can be her middle name :love I want to know more about her, but it’s been hard getting any info.

I put my old, sweet drake in with her today. She went after him once, and he poked her a bit, but after that, it was pretty calm. They stood around and watched each other for a while.

I also haven’t seen her lay down or tuck her head into her wing, yet. I’m not sure if she knows that she can, or perhaps she just isn’t comfortable enough for that yet. I hope she will in time.

That may come as she feels more at home and secure most likely if she was wandering the neighborhood she probably didn’t get to do much of that.
She is progressing so fast!!! I had her on my bed with a towel a few hours ago. She lied down and tucked her head after about 15 - 20 minutes 😊 Such a good ducky.
