i may cancel my order from (less than?) Ideal hatchery...

I'm another happy Ideal customer, but I have to agree that having chicks shipped to Mass from TX this time of year doesn't sound like the best idea. Although, we had a heat wave when I ordered mine in June, and they all survived the trip.

i got chicks a week ago thursday, all was healthy however whoever boxed my box up needs to go back to math class and learn to count, ordered 20 ducks, got 10 ducks plus chicks, say they resent wed but tracking says the package has not been recived by po. i was happy last year with them, so far this year not so much.
edited: today,monday my chicks got to the po. 100 percent doa. took from wed to mon to get from tx to ar.

I ordered form them last year. I ordered four Chanteclers and recieved 14 chicks! All my chicks came alive, all survived, but none grew big at all. That was disappointing. They were helpful but I did end up with very small birds that had to be culled.

last summer during the extreme heat I lost chicks sent from Ideal, but it wasnt their fault. It was postal. They were very friendly to me when I called to let them know and refunded my money, or I could have had them send me more. I opted refund cause I was afraid that it would happen again. But the service at Ideal was excellent.

I ordered from Ideal last summer, and as luck would have it, the weather got BLISTERINGLY hot and humid right about the time they shipped. My chicks all arrived in pretty good shape, only 1 slightly questionable chick and she rallied. The rest were healthy and of those that survived a chance encounter with my dogs, they've all grown to a good size and reached POL. I'll definitely order from them again.

I have ordered from the plenty, and I love them.
I have only had one issue and that was with this order.
I ordered 50 of the Pullet Special, just for eggs and lost 20. BUT we had very strange weather and it took them an extra day to get here. I am sure they sat out in a truck all night. And I called them this morning and they are shipping more on Wednesday, no problem.

This is a email that I sent to Ross over at Ideal. I have to say that I will continue to order from them for chicks that are not show quality ( for that I buy from breeders ) overall I am very happy. My chick buying is for business ( my 9yo DD is in the chick selling biz and orders to make a profit for her extra-extra- curricular activities )

I deal with lots of companies and part of my line of work is in dealing with companies to divert business from one to another. The way that they handle their business and treat the customer in my professional opinion speaks words beyond anything. Not everyone is going to be happy, but the work that they put into keeping the customer base and new customers happy should be speak enough to want to do business with them.

I can't order from Ideal because they don't ship to Va...with that being said. I would not order from anywhere in the cold months like this anyway...what's 2 more months of waiting time...seriously!! Some ppl. think that just because they will pack extra little ones for warmth that it means they will be nice and cuddly the whole entire trip. Not so! If you get a nice warm coat and stand outside all day in the cold, you will eventually get cold also. Think about it. And besides, like someone else said. You will always hear the bad, not the good.
