I may have cancer

Down to 12 chickens got 100 lbs of feed for the other 49 I will miss them but I know all will be well cared for and their eggs will still go to a food shelf. I kept my favorite 10 hens and 2 roosters.

Just caught up on this thread...so sorry to hear you've still got the surgery hanging over your head. I'm sure that's very hard to deal with. Your job over the next few days is to let the stress go as best as you can...focus on the positive things in your life...family and friends at this beautiful time of year. For all of us--every single one of us--this holiday season could be our last to share with our loved ones--and we all need to cherish each and every day--old or young, sick or well--because none of us know which day will be our last. There's something good to be found in every day, even if it's as simple as a hand to hold or the warmth of a hug. God bless you.

All this worrying has me smoking two packs of cigarettes a day again.Has anyone tried the electronic cigarettes if so do they work or any ideas to help me cut back or quit would help me greatly.

Good for you!

Electronic cigarettes would be better if they had the taste of tobacco. Worth trying because they may be OK for you. Smoking is probably more about habit and triggers than about enjoyment. When you find yourself reaching for a pack, take something else instead such as fruit. You will probably be encouraged to eat a lot of peeled fruit in the coming months so why not start now?

During the days leading up to surgery, do anything that pleases you and eases the anxiety. Later, you may well find that you have no interest in tobacco for a while and could take that opportunity to quit permanently.

Consider also clinical hypnotherapy. Some research on the internet should find a local therapist who could help you quit in a single session. There's no need for the multi-session programmes offered by many. Hypnosis can also be used to help you ease the anxiety and stress and develop some positive feelings. Some also find it useful in preparing emotionally for surgery. Your therapist should show you how to induce the relaxed state for yourself whenever you need to use it. Once you learn how to relax with just a few deep breaths and a count down from ten, try it when you sit down for a blood pressure test and see the result in the reading. You shouldn't need a long programme of therapy for any of this unless you also decide to use it as a regular opportunity to release your negative feelings with someone not emotionally close to you.

Hypnosis has never worked on me. I've tried once to quit smoking and once at a show in a bar. I've been so tired today I can do nothing.

Very sad but very sensible to downsize your chicken numbers, less work when you are feeling tired.
I don't have any wise words on not smoking, I never have, but both my parents gave up and it was obviously tough to do. They did stop smoking, I'm sure you can too.
I'm sending you positive thoughts and hoping things get easier.
