Not much of an update but a bit happier for us.
I had some other quail eggs in the bator when the problems ones hatched. first hatching I was dreading rather then looking forward too.
I had 8 out of 13 shipped eggs hatch. Hatch took over 24 hours but now they are 24 and 48 hours old and I still have 8.

Still waiting for the lab results but the results hopefully will be here by the end of next week.

so happy these quail are alive so far.

Ok.... I have read all the post but not one person said anything about there feed. I made this mistake the first time. All you smashing there food up to look like cornmeal if not they are most likely choking on there food. Mine reacted the same way you need to do this to there food for the first week. They don't know to break there food up like chickens do. So if they aren't cold that would be my suggestion. Good luck.

If I had not had 3 successfully raised previous hatches I would think feed.....but nthing changed in my handling of the chicks.

I am now pretty sure it was something they had already present in the egg or a bad batch of feed. Hopefully I will know at the end of the week..

Sorry for your losses.

Here is an idea from way out in left field, In your bator do you have an auto turner or did you hand turn them? Also handling the eggs prior to putting them in the bator are very suceptible to things being absorbed through the shell. If you didn't wash your hands before setting them there could have been something on them that got absorbed through the shells and if you hand turned them they still could absorb stuff through the shells.

Like I said this is out of left field but I once heard that could happen if you don't wash your hands prior to setting eggs be it quali or chicken the same thing would apply.

Hoping you get your answer soon.
