I went to a camp from the 1-5 April 2010. As I was chatting to one of my friends Aellasa, I heard a strange accent one Americanish.
So I went up to the USA-er and asked what there name was etc.....
At the end of the day I found out that his name was Elmer and from California. His dad grew up SA and then moved to the USA.
Does the South of the US have more of an american accent than the North or is it the same?

They're all American accents, but people in the Southern States (Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana) and Texas have "Southern accents" which sound different than the rest of the United States. I can also tell a difference from people in the Northern states closest to Canada, they sound like they have Canadian accents to me. I didn't think people from California had a specific accent, but I've never been there, so I don't know.

Nice to see you, Sibone!

I know that there are a few more Americans in South Africa right now. There is my pastor's daughter and her husband there right now. They are missionaries. Her name is Kristen and she was also in my class in High School. Great girl. Her husband is from here too. But I am not sure on his age. They are both from Wisconsin, USA. But have been doing missionary work since graduating.

Let me know if you ever meet them.

I've been told that us Californians have a California accent, but I couldn't yell ya what it is.

Idaho has a southern-ish accent as well. It reminds me of a Georgia accent. (A lot of my family is from Idaho)

Bants! No, we don't have accents at all. We all talk normal here. It's everybody else that talks funny.

BTW, I made your Almond Cookie Bars last week - they were great!

People on the west coast of the USA don't have accents. It is those east of the Rocky Mountains and in other countries that talk funny.

What did you think of the accent? I usually love foreign accents, but I always wonder what people on the other end think of ours!
