I might be getting quail

I might be getting quail this week and was wondering if there is a better starter species? This is going to be my first backyard bird because chickens are not legal

. I am still trying to make more birds legal in my community.

Cool! I wish I had known how cool quail are when I lived in a community with an HOA. I wanted chickens SOOOO bad, and would have had quail in a heartbeat if I had only known!

Now I live on an acre and raise ducks, but my husband just got started in quail, and they're pretty neat. Have fun.

I just hatched my first quail babies

They are jumbo brown coturnix.
They were hatched at day 17 and growing up fast! Not much noise, pretty quiet all day.
I think it is an easy breed to start.

Thanks for the advice. Coturnix quail are the ones I have been eyeing lately. I guess I will get around 30 since I am new to this hobby.
