To OP: I see nothing wrong with you eating your birds. I am a vegetarian because of my feelings about the meat industry and because I am too much of a wimp to kill anything. What amazes me is not the vegetarians that see something wrong with it (at least they are being consistent), but people who are perfectly willing to call you a monster for eating a well treated animal while they go to their supermarket and pick out a package of big business chicken.
I also had a friend who worried about fertilized eggs (she is considering getting a roo), but after I explained that the difference is in one cell and that they don't develop until incubated she was fine with it. Some people just don't understand about chicken embryonic development and how it works.
