I must share this...

What day was it when your hubby "hatched" him out ??? When a chick pips the shell it can take up to 48 hrs to fully hatch !!!! Did he have anything hanging out of his belly?? Most of the time when people hatch chicks it turns out bad like missprissy said, I am very sorry the chick didnt make it.... I can only imagine how important this chick was to you !!!!

Thanks !!!!!!!!

Sometimes the chicken world is cruel !!!!! Chicks for some reason dont thrive and pass on.... Its always hard even if you dont know them that long !!!!!!

not sure how much you have read up on serama babies but they need very small food, like pulverized crumbs and you can help them eat better if you get them wet first and don't let wet food sit around or they will get sick from it. Seramas are not the easiest kind to start with right off the bat, but read as much as you can and ask questions like crazy before the other eggs hatch! Good luck!

awww so sad!

I was hoping that chick would make it; probably meant a lot to you. Well, at least now he is in Heaven with his/her daddy.

:aww Thanks for sharing the story. And I'm so sorry for your loss of both the rooster and the chick. I wish I could have seen its picture! Probably was really cute.
deerman is right I think. The hen may still be fertile! Try setting some more of her eggs.

I hope it all works out well!

Thank you everyone!

I know that Seramas are tough, I wasn't expecting any of them to hatch really.....

WE are trying to hatch some of her eggs and they did take, so with a little hope maybe some will make it this time!!

But really I thank you all for caring!!

Hello again,
We had another Serama chick hatch, I am betting it's a boy, haha, just have that feeling. He hatched out Saturday evening sometime all by himself, we knew he was going to be hatching soon, he started on Friday! The cutest little thing I ever saw!! I lost my battery charger for my camera now, found my camera so I am soooo bumed because I can not take pictures!!

onthespot, thank you I convinced hubby to crush the goof lay down newspaper just for the first day and put its food onto it, I read it some where, he finally agreed and crushed the food, although he didn't think it was needed, the chick ate and drank, we actually used a baby food jar lid for its water untill today!!
