I personally wouldn't keep a mean rooster around at all, even if he starts acting nice now. He could end up hurting someone else.
i beenhaving issues with my nice roo and being a pure cream legbar i have to keep him
he would cluck and try attck me when i went to collect egg
and i noticed one thing he would always crow constantly when i was in his pressence
well i decided i needed to put him in his place
i followed the advice on this forum and did all my chores with him under my left arm holding his legs aswell
he did a few times try to get away but i controlled him showin ghim he aint going anywhere
i even collected eggs and decided to clean the coop whilest he was with me
then i decided to do a extra test. i opened the run door and sat him on the floor out sede the run next to open door
i held him down and slowly lifted my hand away
he stayed didnt move he even hend his head in the ground showing submission
i let him run into the run eventually and he stood there, he didnt even crow till i left
then half hour later i went into the run and he shot liek a bullet when straight into the coop rather than attack
i then went into teh coop to see what he would do and he ran into a nest box to hide
so basically i have aserted myself to him
i am top @#!*%
i wont do this again tmoz unless he needs it
i dont want him getting so scared that he stops completly
i say job well done
