for chicken addicts anymous. I have my first babies....5 RIR...6 Barred Rock...and 2 Silkies. I know I have read here that pine shavings are the best to use...but if I can't find that(I live in a small town)can I use hay in the coop?

I use pine shavings and hay. I think the pine shavings are easier for the chicks to walk around in and if the hay is soft it should be fine. It will work in a pinch and congrats on your new addiction.
