You are very kind in you style. That is nice.

Congrat's on the coming babies and enjoy the preparation!

How many chickens are you getting? Is cold an issue where you are? I skimmed fast so may have missed this in an early post. Anyway, here's another one I have found curious:

The
dog house idea could be a good one.

Another idea might be to look on craigslist under playhouse and find a kids playhouse. Some folks have turned those into coops and sometimes they are inexpensive. Also, they can be hosed down.

Here in Phoenix I saw a chicken coup that was three pallets in a triangle, one for the floor and two for the sides like an a-frame. Then some osb or plywood for the ends. Cold is not really an issue here though. A really cold night would be just below freezing...and we only get a few of those.

ETA: Here's another one of my favorites...you can see warm is not high on my list of needs:

Where are you? I have a medium size dog house that I purchased in the early part of December that would easily fit 3 chickens. I bought it as a quarentine coop for my 3 new girls, I think they lived in it for a total of one week until I was able to make other arrangments and is now sitting in my garden unused. You would need to add a roost and a nest box but if you are close or in MA it is yours free of charge. Then you can use the remaining money for your babies and making a secure run.

I saw on another thread you live in MN so this wouldn't be an option but keep checking craigslist and freecycle, something will become available eventualy.

I'm not sure I understand when you say it doesn't work; do you mean you have asked for construction material and not received any, or do you mean the link to Freecycle doesn't work?
