Where are you located? If its a warmer climate you can get away with heavy wire with cover and perches. Cold weather, more solid and then more expensive.
My husband and I just made a challenge for ourselves to build our coop for next to free. We have 17 chickens and 2 geese. We used all recycled materials and so far have spent $0! We are using recycled pallets for the frame and old fencing from construction sites to plug up the gaps between the slots. We are using old closet doors and recycled vinal flooring. It is working out wonderfuly. The only materials we are going to by buying are the roofing materials and that is bc my husband works on roofs and is a snob about roofing materials lol. I don't have a picture of it near completed but here is the first part of it. I'll update when we are finished.
Are you in an area that has predators? Am example would be, I surrounded by state forest so I have coyotes and hawks and Fishers(kinda like a Badger), so my coop has to be horse high and hog tight. If your in a relatively metro area, you may be able to get away with a hoop coop with wire over the top and a back against the wind. Cover it with an old tarp for the rain and shade. I don;t think you have to worry about protecting them from your brutally cold Florida winters. LOL
