I need a quiet bantam.

It is very much an individual bird, not a breed trait. I just sold two jap boys who were probably my quietest roosters. I have silkie hens who will talk your ears off. My standard brahmas loved to chat, but neither of my bantam brahmas are talkative. My araucana is very chatty on some days and very quiet on others. If you want quiet, get a male duck.

Bantam cochins are the way to go

There really is no such thing as a quiet rooster, but when I had EEs they crowed less then the rest, and started crowing at a later age. But if you have your chickens outside whether roosters or hens sooner or later you will get busted. Some people keep basement chickens, but that would mean a lot of work, and they probably would not be happy. OEGBs are relatively small and the crow is not loud, Seramas even smaller and from what I understand the crow is more like a screech that does not carry very far. But if you are raising chickens for eggs you would need a LOT of OEGB or Serama eggs for a meal, they have very small eggs. If you just want a pet maybe a cockatiel would be better.
