Hello,
I will have a total of 6 chickens and need an easy to clean sturdy for Indiana winters and of course, cute. Looked at Chicken Saloon and read your comments, thank goodness! Any ideas are great! My husband said he would build one if I could get a set of plans.

Welcome to our forum!

I woud strongly encourage your husband to look through our Coop section (it is divided up by size of coop) and see if he can't find one with plans he can follow. Finding a quality, prebuilt coop is very hard to do. Now and then, people do get lucky on Craig's list. Don't overloook sheds that you can convert.

Good luck!

Hi there! I'm a little confused: you looked at the chicken saloon site (I did too) but you found some negative reviews? I'm having to start my plans completely over since I've been infected with chicken fever (a severe addiction to adding more chicks to my flock!)
Edit: I did find a bunch of negative reviews...seems like a little while back, think they've improved? I'm adding on to my home made coop, but to achieve what I'll need, getting one of theirs is much cheaper.

there's a reason it's so much cheaper............

you get what you pay for

Yeppers, I agree. I'm using the kit as a "shell" that I'll be re-inforcing with some simple materials. Otherwise, because of where I'm adding on, I'd be in over $700 at the very least (and that's using scrap from Craigslist, cheaper hardware store stuff, pouring my own cement, etc) Feeling all turned around on this decision. I'll have a total of 13 hens (if they all keep flourishing), 10 are Gold Sex Links. The current coop area is 5" by 5" with a solid floor and lots of roof/side reinforcement (previous owners had chickens). That's not going to fit all my gals, huh? Can't break through the side of the existing shed, but the terrific huge fenced in and covered run allows for a second coop of the same size. Welcome to input!!! Thanks all!
