He hasn't shown any real aggressive behaviors towards me or the kids, but he's been very aggressive towards the pullets, and now my ducks. My daughter had to hose him down this morning trying to get him to leave my drakes and ducks alone. He was attacking the drake and "riding" the females. I'm considering just getting rid of him. The birds are all around 10 weeks old. It seems so much longer. But the older he gets the more of a jerk he becomes. He crows constantly, at least every 20 min at minimum during the day. I'm at a loss here. There is no real safe way to separate him from the rest of the birds, so I'm thinking the best thing is to get rid of him one way or another.

If there is no reason to keep him--I would not separate him either----just get rid of him. Like I told some of mine in the past----""if I did not need you---you would for sure be gone"".

I've read some of the stories on here and heard some from family about aggressive roosters and such, I don't want my kids in danger, and that's my biggest concern. I was trying to wait till he was big enough for a pot, but idk if I can wait that long. If he attacks any human that'll be the last day, regardless of how big he is, I can tell you that much.

I think the pot is the best place for him, it will be great soup.
Sorry he isn't so nice.

Maybe he would be better in a different setting-not saying that however you're keeping him is wrong-but maybe you should give him another chance and give him away and see how he does with a bit of change.

It was weird, before this morning he'd never been aggressive towards the ducks unless they were trying to get to feed when he was eating. I have multiple feed areas and if he's eating at one he doesn't want to share. Anyway, it was really odd to me that he just started randomly being aggressive. For the most part they all stay on opposite sides of the area because the chickens don't want to get wet and the ducks do. I'm just at a loss. He's been very irritable since I put them in the outdoor area they have, and it just keeps getting worse. I would be worried to give him to someone else and him cause issues in their flock. There are also a lot of people around here who fight them and idk who it is and isn't.

I got a Couple Auctions I keep taking chickens too----All the roosters I want to get rid of go there too. Some meat buyers are there and if the rooster is pretty and good size he brings some decent cash---I know when they get them---I know he is NOT heading to some ones chicken yard.

Unfortunately he's not very big yet, and he's a Rhode Island White, so he's pretty plain. Honestly if he were big enough now I'd put him in a pot and be done with it. The pullets I have aren't great for breeding and I didn't want a roo to start with but my other half wouldn't listen when I told him repeatedly that we didn't need a roo to get eggs. I've gotta do something tho, if this behavior continue. I've seen videos of trained chickens, but I don't think Davey would go for it. Lol

Well, Davey got out this morning and after a hilarious story from my other half about it, he ended up going under my house. There's not an easy way to get him out, of course. But all of my other birds are much more relaxed and seem happier with him not in there. Which confirms my feelings on him needing to be removed. I have to figure out how to get him to come out from under the house tho. I was hoping he would come out on his own at dark. We shall see.
