I was once in a spot, where afforsding a sitter was really hard, between daycare and a sitter it was 1200 a month.. We bounced a few cheques 
Not on purpose.
I always paid everyone every week, no matter how tight. I might say, could you wait till Monday to put the check through please. As things were that tight for awhile. But I never made anyone wait more then a day or two, past the day "they expecting to get paid.
This family is costing you food, water, electricty, and your time with your children..
I would say, just useing a round num here.. Say care cost 100 per week, you need to pay me the 100 per week, plus $20 torwards what you owe. or today is the last day..
As for watching the dog, kids still in jammies ect.. well the pets are your choice just say no
The odd time I would drop off youngest dd in pj's and that's was only.. on those days that she slept in...
