I need help/advice on rescued chickens.

So, I might be totally out in left field or something but what do y’all think? I’ve read chickens can take aspirin if needed for pain (don’t know dose), so could OP or anyone conceivably give aspirin to help with leg pain at least until the CX loose a little weight? To help them be able to move around more easily and therefore get more exercise? I mean, people take NSAIDs all the time to help with aches and pains to keep doing what we need to do ... 🤷‍♀️ Just thinkin’!

Its a thought. Gonna research a little more.
Girls are getting comfortable but....they stink
BADLY
Never had chickens that are smelly and I hope the smell gets better.
Its better than it was yesterday. I'm limiting their feed. 3 feeds a day, when they walk away to water i pull feed. They are 100 times more active today.

I was recommended on here to give a small dose of aspirin to a rooster as a blood thinner.

Hmmm, bathing could stress them, but if they are comfortable being handled, maybe they wouldn’t mind standing in a tub of warm water? Not submerged, just up to their bellies. I’d think that might feel good? And then at least soften up the poo and debris stuck there gently.

FWIW, an off grid homesteader I used to watch got some meat birds and went thru the process - amazingly short time, just a few weeks. She kept one with her layer hens that free ranged.

She was happy with the others for awhile. But she just got so much larger in a short time that her heart couldn't keep up and she had to be euthanized after a period of discomfort for her and more emotional distress for the owner who had become attached to her.

I have layers and love them. I hesitate to try meat birds so bred for the purpose they can't even enjoy much quality of life beyond their "designed" life span.

Gonna do that. They are gentle and used to I being handled. Just waiting for it to warm up again.
