Don't beat yourself up over it.... they are VERY hard to keep alive and thriving. We originally rescued 4 from a guy and only one lived and made it to adulthood. And it was looking very iffy for him from time to time. The up side to it is that hopefully mom will be more wary next time with where she takes her babies. It's one of those tough lessons.... but I think at least it has served the purpose of education.

But it's not your fault, so please don't beat yourself up. Just think, what if your cat found the babies before you did? They would all be killed for sure. The mother really did not have them in a safe place to begin with, so you were just trying to fix her mistake. At least you tried to help them, and that's all that really matters.
