Wobbling Chicken- Need Advice

Hey all- I got a pullet chicken from a reputable breeder last fall. I've gotten several chickens from her and they all have all been wonderful. She does not vaccinate for Mareks. This past Saturday, I noticed one of the pullets was having problems walking. She can walk, but she is very wobbly and lays down often. She loses her balance. I separated her from my flock and I have been giving her Nutridrench. She is eating and drinking fine. She is in a dog crate with straw so she doesnt have to move around a lot. I noticed today that her the iris of her one eye looks misshapen. I am not sure if it was like that before. I checked for bumblefoot and she does not have that. Any advice for me on how to help her or what might be causing this?

Just went through similar, except mine ended up losing any ability to even stand on her own; you could try pushing vit B complex and calcium +vit D in case she's deficient, which is what I was advised and did for several days. Vet said her issue was neurological.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share you experience. I cried when I read your thread. So sorry you lost your girl. My girl is also bottom of pecking order and youngest. She is eating and drinking great and I am hoping the Nutridrench can help her. She is doing a lot of flicking of her head. I guess I will have to see how she does in the next couple of days. I first noticed it last Saturday but because of snow here in Ohio and I went to two tractor supplies with no Nutridrench- today was the first day on Nutridrench. Again, thank you so much for helping me. I love her so and only want her to feel good again.

Did you mean her pupil is misshapen? If so, it sounds like ocular Marek's.

If you want to treat for weakness caused by vitamin deficiency you'll need to give her something that contains vitamin B2 (riboflavin) which is not in Nutridrench.

I would recommend taking her to the veterinarian. I have lost 2 chickens to Marek's disease (confirmed through necropsy). We have also seen a few in our veterinary practice with very similar symptoms. Good luck to you and your flock
