I have a 1.5 month old chick with a bad broken leg. She's holding it out to the side and it's twisting & swollen at the hock. I tried a few different splints but nothing is working and it's getting worse. Any suggestions??? I feel like my options are getting short. I have thought about amputation recently so maybe someone knows more about that?? Let me know what you all think. Putting her to sleep is my very final option, but I don't want to give up on her. She's a strong chick and just needs some help. Thanks!

Could it be a leg bone deformity that has worsened with growing, or are you certain that it is broken? Could you try and post a picture or two? There is a bone deformity called twisted tibia as well as varus or valgus deformity that occurs in one or both legs. Slipped tendon or perosis could also be possible. If her leg is broken and splinted, there needs to be padding, something stiff, and either tape or vet wrap strips used. Here is a splinting manual and legs are on pages 20-23:

It is broken, she was trampled at the place I got her and I thought I could bring her home and fix it. I am trying a sling method now, and I will definitely use the splinting manual to find a better way of holding it in place. Thank you so so much for taking the time to help me and my little one!!!

It can take a few weeks for a bone to heal and form a callas. Here is a vet video of splinting a leg joint in a natural bent position:
