I need help choosing a species "newbie here"

A couple geese, so the Canadian baby has some buddies and 2 of these ducks and 2 of these ducks and I do not have any of these, oh, I do not have 1 that looks like that either.

Oh and look at the cute little chickens in that cage.

And then you can get some in bantam size to finish off your collection...

That doesn't FINISH the collection there are still swans, guinea fowl, peafowl, turkeys, quail, pheasants, and chukars to name a couple more....

Let me enable -er, help you out here. If you raise the goslings and ducklings together they have a better tolerance for one another as adults. As long as you provide enough space & enough nesting sites spaced around their enclosure the two species can easily cohabitate. Until my collection of waterfowl edged into upper double digits my geese and ducks shared space always. At this point in time two of my breeding trios of geese share space with breeding groups of ducks. It's not all that unusual to mix the two. Hope that helps simplify:lol: the decision for you.

Basically Geese are vegetarians, or grazing creatures first, ducks are omnivores and great bug eaters, since their beaks are wider than chickens, they catch mosquitos and other bugs with ease.

Geese are intelligent and smart, Ducks just love to enjoy every moment of life, they'll make you laugh.

If I had a body of water on my property I would raise both Geese and Duckies!

I haven't read all of this board yet, but you don't need a pond or lake or river (or anything else for that matter) to raise ducks and geese!
In fact, it'd probably be easier that way.

Mine get a kiddie pool, and are very content with that.
They'd be happy with a puddle!
They doodle around in it and wet their heads then flap their wings...
"Bathing."

I have to start this off by saying I have never owned ducks. I wanted either ducks or geese, and had heard ducks were pretty noisy and messy. So, I got geese.

I was shocked and amazed.

When I got them at 2 weeks old, they just looked at you like they loved you more than anything in the world!

They wanted to be held, and they would "talk back" to you. They are 2 months old now, getting their adult feathers, and while they really don't want to be carried around, they let us do it, while they rest their head on our shoulder, or drape their neck over our hand. They are very calm and sweet. My family absolutely adores them and they get along with the chickens just fine. They prefer splashing in puddles to swimming in their little pool and graze all day long, eating clover and grass.

We absolutely

our geese! They are brown Chinese named Pillow, Spruce, and Gousgous (Couscous with a "G"). They all know their names, they will follow us anywhere we ask them to, and they respond whenever we speak to them.

Good luck choosing!

YES! I plan on getting more in the future, as revenge for Perdi's death...
Lol

Don't know how that'll pan out.
First I need to reduce duck numbers

by giving them away or something.
